8-year-old killed his father after 1,000th smacking, kept a tally

An update to this story about an 8-year-old who murdered two adults...

Original story is here.

Boy 'killed father after 1,000 smacks'

An eight-year-old US boy accused of murdering his father and a family friend kept a tally of his parents' smackings, vowing that the 1,000th time would be the last, police believe.

The unnamed boy allegedly shot dead his father, Vincent Romero, 29, and Timothy Romans, 39, their lodger, at the family home in St Johns, Arizona, with a .22 rifle as they were coming home from work at a local power plant.
The double murder on Nov 5 shocked the US, with investigators initially struggling to find any motive.
However, according to police records reported by the Arizona Republic, the boy "is believed to have made ledgers and/or communicated in the form of writings about his intentions" if his father and stepmother continued to smack him.
According to the police records, the boy told a Child Protective Services official that "when he reached one thousand spankings . . . that would be his limit. [The boy] kept a tally of his spankings on a piece of paper."
Despite his age, relatives suspected the boy immediately in the shootings. His grandfather told investigators: "If any 8-year-old was capable of doing this, [the boy] was", and the child's grandmother added: "I knew this was going to happen, they were too hard on [him]."
The boy told police he was smacked the day before the shootings for failing to finish schoolwork.
Records indicate the boy had no history of psychiatric care and was not on any medication.

Huh. Sounds like the kind of parent who might deserve to be shot. Perhaps not killed, just blasted in the kneecaps once. It may be insensitive of me, and my value on human life isn't extremely high to begin with, but I think I understand this boy a little too well and therefore don't feel all that sorry for the dad. His friend was just in the wrong place at the wrong time

I'm all for discipline, but not beating the crap out of your child. Especially not for menial crap like not finishing homework or something. That's called child abuse, not discipline. I don't have ANY pity for this so-called father. Good riddance!

Ah, so that was the motive?

Nobody should be smacked 100 times in their life let alone 1,000!
He should not have killed but maimed. Yeah, kneecaps would have been great.

There is no reason to get in to the habbit of ever hitting your kid.
Same goes for yelling or putting the kid down/insulting. That is a no no!!

EVERY single parent yells at their kids... I can't think of one who doesn't...

I agree that smacking your child isn't the best way to discipline a child, but it's not child abuse either. It's only abuse if they do it like, 100 times a day for no reason at all. In China, they don't think that smacking your child is bad, they think of it as a form of discipline. Now don't go yelling at me and saying that China's unbelievable and unethical; it's just our beliefs.
And there's no such thing as a "wrong" belief.

My mom insults me when she's REALLY mad at me (whose parents doesn't?). But it takes a lot for her to.

Somehow I'm inclined to believe that after the huge discussion of your "disorder" in another thread, your opinions on parenting have long since lost credibility. As for China's parental ethics... PFFTHAHAHA

As Zoe said, I don't think you've got any rights to be rambling on about parenting in this forum after that fiasco in that other thread. Also, uhm regarding your comment saying there is no such thing as a "wrong" belief .. if it was my belief to go over to someone's house, drug them all, and then slowly cut into their arteries with the means of a small nail-clipper, would that not fall under 'wrong'?

Ra,
It is MY belief that it depends entirely on who your victim is!
The KKK has beliefs.
The Nazi's had beliefs.
Oh but there are no "wrong" beliefs.

JUST WRONG PEOPLE!

I would tend to agree with you there. It's just like, there is no such thing as good and evil. There are only unique points of views. One man's terrorist is another's Hero. I get that, however haven't we as humanity in the civilized world agreed on 'some' aspects which we tend to frown on? Murder for example, in any country in the civilized world is thought of as 'wrong'. The people committing these crimes seem to think otherwise, hence why they do the things they do, but the justice systems punish them accordingly.

Ra,
Also, abortion and meat-eating is considered murder to some. I think they should have been aborted or eaten. Then again, I'm already hired on as the interior decorator for the six and seventh circles of Hell.

Some also consider some murder to be sacrifice. I would really like to sacrifice Miley Cyrus.

Let's not even get into abortion, that's a whole different argument.

Also, which country considers eating meat to be murder? I knew of vegetarians and vegans, and even some Monks who won't even harm insects due to the belief that it might be their grandmother reincarnated or something, but I hadn't heard of countries where eating stake was considered murder? Do they get jailed for eating animals?

P.S: Can we throw in Zac Saffron .. 'scuse me, Efron in there to be sacrificed as well?

You aren't Chinese, so you shouldn't be saying anything (much less laughing). That was really rude. You jthink you know everything, don't you? I'm Chinese, you're not, so I know a lot more than you do. You have a lot of knowledge on things, but when it comes to things like Chinese culture/beliefs, you just shouldn't say anything...
